Patagonia Area Resource Alliance

Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) is a grassroots, community-driven nonprofit located in Patagonia, Arizona. Founded in 2011 by six Patagonia locals, we have spent nearly a decade 1) monitoring the wildlife and water found in the Patagonia Mountains and 2) protecting the area’s rich biodiversity from the environmental damage introduced by mining companies. The health and prosperity of Patagonia are tied to the wellbeing of two areas: the Patagonia Mountains and the Harshaw/Sonoita Creek watershed. As such, our mission as a watchdog organization is to monitor mining activities in and around the Patagonia Mountains. We stand at the front line of all environmental issues in Patagonia to ensure any actions taken by mining companies or local government agencies have sustainable, long term benefits for our public lands, our water, our wildlife, and the ecosystem in which we all live.
